An Unforgettable African Safari Adrift A Hot Air Balloon With Stunning Views Of The Savanah Packed With Wild Animals.
An African safari is not complete without going on a ride on a hot air balloon.
In 1976, Alan Root and his wife Joan- wildlife movie producers, used a hot air-driven balloon to shoot movie clips of wild animals. It was much simpler, to use the balloon to access areas where a motor vehicle could hardly reach, to shoot sensational aerials of wildlife.
After that, the idea attracted the attention of people who were willing to pay top-dollar for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. This gave birth to balloon safaris in Kenya Tanzania safaris.
Its dawn in the Masai Mara. The blanket of darkness is still heavy on the dawn and causes the reddish orange flame from the furnace of the hot-air balloon beam vividly bright.
As the sun emerges from behind the mountains, the 100-foot tall balloon is adrift over the Masai Mara savanah with each one of us lodged in a woven carrier installed on the massive balloon.
Simply put, it's seducing! The airstreams carry us off track, overhead the rim of the Ngama hills and across straight into the Talek River. Directly below, a couple of gray-back Jackals hurry haphazardly in the midst of the thickets and a hare scurries to its underground retreat.
Afloat, we have a vantage eagle's eye vision of the expanse of the Masai Mara and the Serengeti Parks extending as far as the eye can see. It looks eternal.
We take 90 degrees spin and below we locate the heads of giraffes through the canopies of acacia trees as they browse the foliage, hardly observing us drifting in the air in the sky above.
After one hour or so adrift, the journey ends and a bouncy landing brings us back to the ground. At this point we inch out of the carrier to a champagne breakfast. The magnificence is that this breakfast occurs in the wild, wherever you land, and it's made as you see with the burners that minutes before kept you floating in the air. What a way to begin our day!

If you're lucky you will climb high overhead for the sight of a lifetime. " the captain offers.
After year end rains, the vegetation is lush green as we drive back to our camp viewing game en-route. It is such a contrast as these are the similar grasslands which, in November, were golden, dried out and hash.
Out of the blue we encounter a mother cheetah marking her tree, spraying the area with urine. Finished, she scans our troupe and then releases a soft chirping sound as she makes her way through the thicket. Most probably she is looking for her litter.
The plains are teeming with elephants, buffaloes, topi, wildebeests and other antelopes and the sight is just terrific.
