Keeping Your Garden Orderly Whilst Staying Planet Friendly
There are many things that a gardener will need to use in order to keep their garden looking good. In addition that will help to make sure that certain plants can grow strong and tall. Of all the articles that both veteran and new gardeners must use are garden stakes.
However as you will soon discover when it comes to acquiring such items there are many different types to choose from. Below we glimpse at what these are and the modes in which they are used. Plus we will also take a look at the benefits of using some recycled stakes for your garden.
So what types of stakes can you use in the garden nowadays?
Type 1 - Plant Stakes - These are the ones that are specifically used to help give support for any plants that are heavy as they grow. You will most commonly see that this type is used to provide support to such plants as tomatoes and also to small trees. Generally these kinds of garden stakes are made from metal, wood or bamboo.
Type 2 - Markers - As well as having a stake they also have a wide segment at the top that lets you to write on them so you can make out the plant which they are giving support to. Though you can buy ones that allow you to write your own note on them there are a number that have readily printed information on them.
Type 3 - Watering Stakes - These kinds are buried in the soil beside the plants roots and will then gradually release water to the plants roots through wicking. In addition to ensuring that a regular supply of water is supplied to the plants it also makes sure that as the plant grows that support is provided to the main part.
Type 4 - Ground Stakes - These are only small in size and will generally be used to help keep some form of netting or cloth in position to shield the plants from either the sun or frost. Again these types will often be made from either wood or metal.
So what motives are there for you spending money on recycled garden stakes? Below we take a look at just what some of these are:
Reason 1 - If you opt to go for ones that are made from recycled plastic you will learn that they are not only much more robust but have a lot more versatility. So if they are used with young plants, they can help to ensure that plants raise well as they can flex in a strong wind more easily which will ensure that the plants won't break or become damaged.
Reason 2 - There is rare chance for the roots of the plants becoming damaged as you remove the stakes because they are much softer and won't cut on them.
Reason 3 - With these forms of recycled plastic stakes you will notice that there is no possibility of any kind of detrimental chemicals being leached into the soil which could in turn be absorbed by the plants. However this would not be the case if you chose to use wood stakes that have not been treated beforehand.
You should also consider using a raised garden bed to add a bug proof ground to your new garden bed.
